The Huizopa Project is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains in Chihuahua, Mexico. These mountains contain the Sierra Madre Gold Belt (SMGB), a silver-gold province recognized as one of the most productive gold –silver mining regions in the world which historically produced over 40 million ounces of gold and 2 billion ounces of silver. The Huizopa Project is approximately 17 kilometer southwest of Minefinder's Dolores Project and 33 kilometer northeast of the Alamos Gold's Mulatos gold-silver project, thus Huizopa is on a straight line between these two large producers. The Huizopa project is subject to an 80% Apollo/20% Mineras Coronado joint venture agreement. The Huizopa project consists of a block of mining concessions covering 170 square kilometer.
Huizopa - Update
Current News: 07.07.09 - (Correction) Apollo Gold Announces Release of NI43-101 Report on Exploration at the Huizopa Project in Mexico
* Huizopa NI43-101 Report
The NI43-101 Report contains details of the surface exploration, geochemical sampling and geophysical programs completed by Apollo to date on the Huizopa project. Also included in the Report are the results from the core drilling program completed in the first quarter of 2008 on the Puma De Oro and Lobo De Oro exploration targets, which were previously publicly announced by Apollo. The highest intercept of Au was 42 grams/tonne & Ag was 162 grams/tonne.
Mineralization - occurs on a series of northwest trending quartz structures with strike lengths from 2.0 to 4.5 kilometer. The Company conducted aerial surveys, mapping, geochemical sampling and geophysical surveys which identified 3 primary geological drill targets. In the first and second quarter of 2008, the Company completed 31 holes in a chopper supported core drilling program on approximately 1,000 meter strike length on a favorable fault trend that is over 2 kilometer in length.
Two exploration targets (Puma de Oro and Lobo de Oro) were identified at this project and in August 2008, the Company announced results from the core drilling program on the Puma De Oro exploration target. Twenty five (25) NQ core holes were drilled on a north-trending zone and found anomalous gold and silver in 20 of the holes with 6 of the twenty holes having significant gold and silver values. Drilling assay results of core holes with intercepts greater than 0.5 grams per tonne were announced as well ( Huizopa NI43-101 Report ).
